My life's work, Maison Soleil, has come to its end โ and I need you to know why. ๐ฟ
There's a moment every woman knows.
You're standing in front of your wardrobe, and nothing feels right. Nothing fits quite like you. You pull on one more thing, look in the mirror, and for a second โ just a second โ you wonder if the problem is the clothes or if it's you.
It's never you.
It was never you.
That belief is the reason Maison Soleil exists. It's the reason two sisters with no investors, no plan B, and absolutely no business opening a boutique decided to open one anyway โ on a cobblestone street in Savannah, Georgia, with a faith in women bigger than both of them.
Why It's Called Maison Soleil
People ask us this all the time.
Maison is the French word for home. Soleil is the French word for sun.
The day we decided to turn a dream into a real business, my sister looked at me and said โ let's build something that feels like both. A place that's warm. A place that women want to come back to. A place that feels like home the moment you walk in.
She was right.
Maison Soleil was never just a store.
It was a promise between two sisters that something beautiful was worth building together. And it became something even bigger than that โ it became our whole lives. ๐ฟ
How It Started
It started the way most good things do โ with a feeling that refused to quiet down.
We were tired.
Tired of stores that made women feel like an afterthought. Tired of trends designed for bodies that most women didn't have. Tired of walking into boutiques and feeling invisible โ or worse, feeling like we needed to change ourselves to fit what was on the rack, rather than the other way around.
So we built something different.
Not a fashion house. Not a luxury showroom. Not a place where you needed to know the right people or wear the right label just to feel welcome.
Something warmer than that.
Something that felt less like a store and more like the wardrobe of a really stylish friend โ one who knows your size, your taste, and exactly what you need for the occasion you almost forgot to mention.
Maison Soleil opened on a cobblestone street in Savannah in 2013. And from the very first day, women felt it.
That feeling of being seen.
Of walking in as yourself and being met exactly where you were.
No pressure. No performance. Just beautiful clothes and a space that belonged to you as much as it belonged to us.
What Savannah Taught Us
Savannah showed up for us in ways we never expected.
You came in for one piece and stayed for an hour. You brought your daughters and your mothers and your best friends visiting from out of town. You came back season after season, year after year. You wrote to us after weddings, vacations, and ordinary Tuesdays when you simply put yourself together beautifully and wanted someone to know.
You trusted us.
And when a woman trusts you โ really trusts you, with her money, her time, the way she wants to present herself to the world โ that is not something you take lightly.
We never did. Not once in thirteen years.
Every piece we brought into Maison Soleil was chosen with you in mind. Not the idea of a woman. Not a mannequin. Not a trend board. You โ the real, breathing, multidimensional woman who has a dinner on Friday, errands on Saturday, and absolutely no interest in spending either feeling uncomfortable in something that doesn't suit her.
We learned so much from being in that space with you.
We learned which styles make women feel powerful and which ones just look powerful on a hanger. We learned that the right dress can change a woman's entire week. We learned that sometimes you come in knowing exactly what you want, and sometimes you come in just needing to feel something beautiful โ and both of those reasons are completely valid.
Savannah made us better at what we do.
And now, after thirteen years, the time has come to say goodbye.
Why We're Closing
This has not been an easy decision.
There is no easy way to close something you built with your hands, your heart, and the person you love most.
After thirteen years, Margot and I have decided to step away and take care of our family. Life has a way of asking things of you that the business cannot wait for. We listened. And as hard as it is to write these words, we know it is the right thing to do.
What I want you to know is this โ
We are not closing because we stopped caring.
We are closing because we cared so much โ about this store, about our family, about doing things right โ that we could not do anything less than give you everything we had, right until the very last day.
And this is our last day.
So we are giving you everything we have left.
The Last of Savannah
Here is what I need you to know.
We are sharing the last of our Savannah collection.
These are real pieces, chosen with real love, from thirteen years of knowing exactly what women want to wear.
There will be no restock. There will be no next season.
When they're gone, they're gone โ and the doors close for the last time.
I want these pieces to go to women who will truly wear them. Women who will feel something when they put them on. Not a warehouse shelf. Not a markdown bin.
You.
This is your chance to own a piece of Maison Soleil Savannah โ the last pieces we will ever offer.
I want them to go to the women who deserve them.
For the Women Who've Been With Us
If you've been with Maison Soleil since those early Savannah days โ this is for you.
You believed in us before there was any real reason to expect it. You gave us a chance when we were new and figuring out exactly who we were. You spread the word not because we asked, but because you genuinely wanted the women in your life to feel what you felt when you found us.
That kind of loyalty is rare.
We have never forgotten it. Not for a single day.
Everything we built here, we built with you in mind. The care in every collection, the love in every choice โ all of it was an attempt to honor what you showed us this could be.
Thank you. For real.
Thirteen years of thank you.
For the Women Just Finding Us
Welcome.
We're so glad you're here โ even now, even at the end.
However you found us โ through a friend, an ad, or simply the right moment โ we hope you stay long enough to feel what this place is.
Maison Soleil has always been, at its core, a space for women who want to feel good in what they wear and good about how they got it.
We believe in quality that lasts.
We believe in style that's personal, not prescribed.
Browse at your own pace. Find what catches your eye. Trust what you're drawn to.
We think you'll find something.
Most women do.
Two Sisters. One Dream. Thirteen Years of Women to Dress.
It still feels surreal to write these words โ that what started on a cobblestone street in Savannah, just the two of us and a dream neither of us could let go of, became a place where real women made it a part of their real lives, and where something truly beautiful was built.
But good things have a way of leaving something behind when they go.
And what we built Maison Soleil on will always be true โ
Every woman deserves to feel at home in what she's wearing.
Every woman deserves a space made with her in mind.
Every woman deserves to look in the mirror and feel exactly like herself โ just on a really, really good day.
We built that space.
For thirteen years, we gave it everything we had.
Thank you for letting us.
With all the love โ for the last time,
Claire
